Epilepsy, the hippocampus, and the cortex. Our lab is currently pursuing research projects related to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of epilepsy. These include testing whether stem cell derived, GABAergic neurons can functionally integrate into hippocampal circuits and provide seizure-preventing inhibition. This and related stem cell projects are being pursued in collaboration with Profs. Janice Naegele and Laura Grabel.

My research is in the area of topology and geometry. I am interested in the study of volume in rank one symmetric spaces of noncompact type.
